A close friend of the Whistle Hop family recently faced a medical emergency that found her fighting for her life. On January 26th Sarah Owenby suffered an unexplained cardiac arrest. Thanks to the rapid lifesaving efforts by AFD first responders, she was resuscitated and defibrillated. She was then taken by ambulance to Mission Hospital where she was placed in intensive care. At that time her family was told she had a less than 5% chance of survival. Miraculously, Sarah made it through the harrowing ordeal. After fourteen days she was released from the hospital and ready for rehabilitation. Sarah and her husband Bo are lifelong residents of Fairview who are active in the community and their church. As cattle farmers they are members of our local agricultural community that keeps us all fed. Sarah has a long journey to recovery and for her husband Bo the hard work of life on the farm is ongoing.
To help the Owenbys during this time, this Saturday we will be holding a fundraiser at the taproom. 25% of taproom sales on February 25th will be donated to the family. We will also be holding raffles for Whistle Hop merchandise, gift cards, and a collection of donated items from community members. All proceeds from raffles will go to the Owenby Family as well.
Donated items include:
- A lovingly handmade blanket by Lulu Miceli
- A truckload of firewood by Frank Miceli
- A family pack of four tickets to Craggy Mountain Line Railroad donated by Rocky Hollifield
- A massage donated by masseuse Heidi Mulas of Just in Time Massage
